I was driving on the 105 freeway and I remembered hearing there was a Jim Dandy Fried Chicken nearby. I remember Jim Dandy from when I was a kid. I got off at Vermont and there it was! Parking was super easy. Guy and his girlfriend out in the parking lot hustling his rap album. I ordered a three piece with a side of potato salad and fritters. Seven bucks out the door. What do you want for $7?! I can't even go to a taco stand or Mc Donald's and get full for that price! I got it to go and took it with me to work. When I opened it up I was AMAZED at the size of the pieces! It was like humongous dinosaur pterodactyl size pieces of chicken! Super good, super crunchy, super hot, fully cooked! It tasted even better with the hot sauce that comes with it! It's nothing like the Jim Dandy I remember as a kid. That was more like Pioneer. But this was super bomb! What I believe is in South Central nobody is going to put up with bad or expensive fried chicken. This was some of the most solid fried chicken I've had for the money in a long time. If people on here are complaining, they have unreasonable expectations for the price. As far as atmosphere, there isn't much. You order your chicken through three inches of bullet proof glass. There isn't really any great dining area. It's more of a walk up place. Neighborhood is pretty rough and dirty. But hey... what do you want for seven bucks?! I'm not a food critic, just a guy that likes cheap fried chicken with a side of nostalgia.

Jim Dandy came in handy for a late night dinner! I got the spicy chicken thighs with mac salad and fritters, all were delicious. It's definitely worth every penny. It seems like nowadays you can't find anywhere that will fill you up for under $10. It was exactly what I needed! The woman who helped me tonight was very sweet, I didn't catch her name.

Hood chicken at it's BREAST aka best aka 2 breast are better than 1 lol. Don't worry about the ambiance because that's not what this place is known for, just good fried chicken. Also it's a grab and go spot, so no seating. Workers are always nice and attentive. I Always get the spicy cause that's how I like mine anywhere I get chicken. The tater tots are apart of there secret menu jk, but it's not on the menu, so is it a secret menu idk. Also, as soon as you get them to the car, make sure you let them breath or else they will be soggy taters.

For a small spot, the chicken was good. It's a "to go" only place. Which is fine. Had a flavor for fried chicken and saw some IG talk about this being the best. So I tried it and it was good. The fries were basic and bland. The sweet fritters were tasty - like little donut holes. And the banana pudding was delicious. The service was super nice and welcoming. Especially when I said it was my first time. Ambiance, well it is a "to go" location. Nothing screams at you for beautiful ambiance. It's an in and out spot. But overall, the chicken was good.

This place was soooo good. Upon arriving there was a line. I ordered the chicken with a side of rice, fries and corn fritters. The chicken had GREAT FLAVOR and it was crunchy!!! But baby the corn fritters were equally good. They are served with powdered sugar on top. It was sooooo good. As far as the ambiance don't expect nothing fancy. You order will be taken behind bullet proof glass in a small older establishment (these are usually the best places).
